Who I See

My background experience is very broad thanks to my years of practicing rural family and emergency medicine.  In rural areas in this country healthcare is still largely delivered by the "generalist", a physician who is called upon to do everything needed because there are no specialists or the specialists live many miles away in the city.  Frequently, if I didn't do it, it didn't get done.  Consequently, I developed skills and gained experience not common to a modern day city based family practitioner.

The largest component of my practice today consists of serving the medical needs of travelers to our area through the concierge services of many fine Seattle and Bellevue hotels.  This has proven especially beneficial for guests on tight schedules and for visiting VIPs who wish to remain more private.

A large part of my practice consists of taking care of children of all ages from newborns to adolescents for acute illnesses, injuries, sports physicals, etc.  They are always a highlight of my practice.  I have a special ability to understand and communicate with children and they usually like me!

As the medical director of the county nursing home in Montana I gained a large experience with geriatric medicine which I enjoy immensely.  Now I see many elderly patients that, due to mobility or transportation issues, are very happy to have me come to see them.  Many of these patients had not been receiving adequate medical care due to their inability to get to a doctor's office.

Much of my prior work took place in emergency rooms dealing with all the types of urgent medical needs that are seen there.  Many of these medical needs I can take care of in your home.  I have sewn up cuts, treated minor strains and sprains, drained abscesses, relieved migraine headaches, controlled nausea and vomiting, treated infections, etc.  The list goes on and on.  If you are not sure if I am equipped to handle your needs in your home, the easiest thing to do is to call me and ask.  If I don't feel I can safely and conveniently take care of you I will recommend that you go to an emergency room.

I have extensive major trauma and cardiac life support experience although I have eliminated those two areas from my current practice because those medical conditions require a hospital with much medical equipment and many highly trained and skilled professionals all working together as a team to provide the best care.  If you are faced with a life threatening emergency in your home, you will be much better off by calling 911 and having the medics transport you very quickly to the nearest hospital.
